About our Company here in Anchorage, Alaska
We have been in business since 1950 when Jack L. Whitmore purchased this shop. The original shop was only 3400 Sq/Ft but the state told Jack that he could have what he could reclaim. Ship Creek used to run through where our back shop is currently located right up until Jack moved it out of his way to his expand his business. An addition was made in 1964, increasing our shop size to 10,000 Sq/Ft and the addition of two L&S Oil Country big bore lathes and a 5 ton overhead crane were added. Throughout the years other equipment was added or replaced with the next major upgrade being in 2000 when we added CNC Mill and Lathe capabilities to aid in production and the machining of complex geometries. Our welding and custom fabrication expertise is recognized throughout the state of Alaska taking on challenging jobs that scare away our competitors like the repair of cast iron components. Today, the shop is now owned by WOSB certified Jantina Lunsford, who happens to be the daughter of the previous.
Because of the nature of our geography here in Alaska and the cost and lead time of shipping, people often find that while our price may be a little higher than the lower 48 the quality, the turnaround time, and the availability of local service make the price worthwhile. We're a core part of the Alaskan community doing business with nearly everyone in the state from the federal government and military, to the state, to corporations and private businesses, to private citizens. Chances are good that you've seen our work somewhere in the state and never realized it. We're here and we get it done.
